Shostakovich Symphony Cycle

Russian-born, 20th-Century composer Dmitri Shostakovich is one of the world’s most controversial and well-known composers. With a repertoire spanning from piano to opera, it is his symphonies that stand out the most. For this composer I have designed a 15 day cycle on my Instagram feed (stephenjtrygar) celebrating his 15 earth shattering symphonies. Thus far each day has started with a post of my favorite movement from each symphony with a poll asking to either “Agree” or “Disagree” with my choice. Although several of the follow-up videos have been posted on following days, every day ends with with one of my “Musical Tidbit – Who Knew?” videos on my main page.

My Shostakovich Symphony Cycle is the first of many cycles I plan on hosting. Within the past few days, a poll was posted to vote for the next cycle. The poll posted included the operas of English composer Benjamin Britten and the ballets of Russian-born composer Igor Stravinsky. To take part in this poll, feel free to contact me using the form below. The poll closes on July 3rd, 2018.
